How to Start a Pickleball Program

We are so lucky to live in Orange County, CA where Phil Dunsmeyer, created the Tustin pickleball program.  It started with a few courts but is now a well-run facility with 12 courts.

Inspired by Phil, I helped start the Newport Beach pickleball program with four outdoor courts and two indoor courts.  It's been truly an amazing experience and creating equal playing time on four courts is an every day challenge.  The trick is to have a set schedule with well-defined drop-in times, teaching times, and scheduled time by skill levels. It also helps to have volunteer court monitors help arrange games for everyone and monitor the sign-up sheet or paddle racks.
